Great home for families and dogs
Reviewed on 2024-06-28 by Megan C. , BELLINGHAM, WA United StatesWe had an awesome stay at Where the Wild Things Are! It was perfect to have our teenagers on the lowest level with their own hang-out space. The house is also very dog friendly, especially since the yard is fully fenced. We mostly cooked our own meals and the kitchen absolutely had everything we needed. Other perks: gorgeous view, quiet part of the neighborhood. The only disappointment was the missing cushions on the outdoor furniture (lower patio). We would have liked to use that space.
Nice home good view

Thank you for choosing to stay with us! Where the Wild Things Are is situated near the community pool and Lookout Park area complete with all of The Lookout's best amenities. This would include a playground for kids, play field, pickleball court, large outdoor stone fireplace, and community grill. This home is also conveniently prepped for families with little ones. You'll find plenty of utensils for children and babies for all ages. We hope you come back for future stays! - The Lookout
House was very functional for a family
Reviewed on 2022-07-26 by , Everett , WA United StatesThe owners did a great job setting the house up for families. We have stayed at the lookout before and love it. The view from the deck on this house is great too. The Lookout maintenance was a bit disappointing though. Our AC Unit had low batteries and it took a couple day to get it fixed. Oven wasn't working right. Weeds were overgrown in the yard which wasn't cleaned up until our trip was almost over. And the previous guests had a dog and so there was older potty spots not picked up. Again, owner's home is great, just disappointed in the lookouts maintenance.
Lookout at Chelan
Reviewed on 2022-07-03 by , Bellevue, WA United StatesThe cottage wasn’t ready by 4pm as promised. The manager never bothered to return our call when we complained. The house isn’t well-maintained (there is damage to walls, stains on carpet and furniture, kitchen tools very lacking), the decor and fixtures look cheap and don’t go together...for $600 a night, everything should be more luxe, more professional. Seabrook is better value.
Great little house!
Reviewed on 2022-05-11 by Brian L. , Lake Forest Park, WA United StatesWe had a great time. The house was clean, kitchen well stocked, perfect pet friendly home. If you are looking for ADA accessible, this house isn’t for you. But for us it was perfect. Already looking forward to our next stay at the Lookout next year...

Fun in the Sun
Reviewed on 2021-09-13 by Brian B. , Tacoma , WA United StatesMy family and I shared this lovely home with another family and could not have been more happy with the experience. We discovered that the ice machine was not functioning, so The Lookout staff immediately brought a bag of ice - which is far more than I had anticipated. Our kids had a fantastic time playing in both pools, and we had a convenient place to park the boat while we enjoyed all that Lake Chelan has to offer. We will be back.

Great soot
Reviewed on 2021-06-29 by MIa K. , Seattle, WA United StatesThis home was perfect for our family. A half a block to the bigger pool and we’ll equipped. We enjoyed evenings looking at the lake from the back deck and the bunk room was awesome for the three kids. The AC worked well on a historically hot weekend. We will be back.

Awesome Stay at Where the Wild Things Are
Reviewed on 2021-04-20 by Eva E. , Mill Creek, WA USWonderful house in a wonderful community by Lake Chelan. The community was going through construction (new homes, new parks, etc.) but everything is still well maintained. Did not expect to go in the lake given time of the year but it's still beautiful to just look at Lake Chelan and all the vineyards. Great place to stay for families and friends.

Renter beware
Reviewed on 2021-04-13 by , Newcastle, WA United StatesThe place was perfect but beware of the location. The industrial fans in the fields below meant to keep the vines from freezing sound like helicopters and will keep you up all night. Also your partial lake view is beautiful but the majority of the view is focused on the highway below. Finally I asked where the hammock was and the resort told me the owner put it away in the off season? On the plus side, the place is gorgeous with all of the features you would want.
Great To Visit 2nd Time
Reviewed on 2021-03-23 by Lance V. , Lynden, WA United StatesThis is our second time to this specific cottage. It is wonderful. The bunkroom is fun for the little kids and the 4th got his own bedroom. We enjoyed some of the puzzles and books and video games available. We appreciated the things that were stocked in the kitchen - very kid friendly with little kid plasticware and plates and cups (some were the same ikea ones we have at home!). I wish this cottage had gutters. Both times we have checked in it was raining and the dripping on the front stairs/porch is distracting. It also appeared - as I laid on the floor playing with my kids - that vacuuming of the living room area rug was not clean of hair (and I suspect it was both pet and human). That was a little gross. But please note my overall rating of 4 stars. It wasn't perfect, but it was a 4 star stay overall. Finally, the reservation system never sent us instructions or door code to get in. We drove around wondering if there were other check-in instructions and then called night phone number and eventually had someone call us with the appropriate code. It wasn't a great start. But it was a wonderful weekend away in a place we knew we would fit and enjoy. Thanks!
Wonderful stay for our family
Reviewed on 2021-02-21 by , Mercer island, WA United StatesWe had a lovely time during a small snow storm! Enjoyed the sledding hills, the hot tub both at the home and at the pool. Explored the downtown in the snow and took our little ones to ski for the first time at Mission Ridge. The house is incredibly well appointed, very clean and thought through. They have thought through everything. Perfect size for our family of 4 plus our pup.
Great Rental!
Reviewed on 2021-02-17 by , BELLINGHAM, WA United StatesProbably the best rental we've ever stayed in! Had everything you might possibly need, was very clean, comfortable, neighborhood amenities were awesome, very convenient with our dog... can't say enough. It snowed a lot when we were there and they were very diligent with plowing, etc. Would definitely stay here again.
Remote Working Escape
Reviewed on 2020-10-21 by Doug L. , Maple Valley, WA United StatesWe needed a change of scenery as we work remotely. Where the Wild Things Are was the perfect place for two teachers and a couple of college students. We had no issues with the WIFI. The bed in the master is as comfortable as they come and the views are incredible. The kitchen is well stocked with just about everything needed. There were even beds and dishes for the dogs. This is definitely a place we would return!

Love the name and cute house! Very dog friendly
Reviewed on 2020-10-06 by , Kirkland, WA UnknownThis house is great if you have dogs because it is fully fenced. I loved the deck with firepit. The lounge chairs, hot tub, and outdoor dinning space were amazing. The rocks make it hard to walk around the house and I wouldn't recommend for little kids. You do have to walk down stairs to unpack. The rooms were great. The kitchen could be better stocked. The solar lights All had dead batteries with no replacements so I went and bought new ones. The downstairs for kids is great. Bring your own XBOX games, they only have one. They have puzzles, but no games and not even a deck of cards. That was a bit of a bummer. All and all great house.

Beautiful view and relaxing time in Chelan
Reviewed on 2020-05-31 by Lee M. , Renton, WA United StatesWhere the Wild Things Are was a pleasant surprise. On first approach you might think this house is situated oddly on site with the front being below grade. Once you walk in you understand why. The back of the house has incredible natural light, a pleasant breeze and view of the lake. Our family had such a relaxing time in this lovely home. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Fantastic Place; Overall Great Set-Up
Reviewed on 2019-12-31 by Lance V. , Lynden, WA USOur little one slept in a provided pack-and-play in our room, the next littlest got the downstairs bedroom, and the two big kids got the top bunks in the bunk room. The sleeping worked out really well. Those two big kids could even play x-box while the other was sleeping right next door in the bedroom.
The hot tub was set to 105 degrees but we quickly changed it to 99 for our little kids to be able to enjoy it. They had nice beach towels we used for that. Simple and fun with a view.
Overall the space is amazing and we would recommend to everyone. One thing was a less ideal than expected. We were surprised at the quality and position of the “blinds”. We really enjoyed staying here! We have 4 kids ranging in age from 2-13. When we first walked in we were pleasantly surprised how wonderfully cute the place was – well decorated and staged. It also felt bigger than the pictures hinted at. The kitchen is well stocked with some oils and spices and all the cooking and eating supplies you would need. We used a crock-pot, 3 or 4 different pots and pans, many of the bowls and storage containers, but didn’t even get to use the cast iron skillet. There was a large variety of plates and cups and even plastic stuff for kids (from IKEA – the same ones we had at home!). The dishwasher worked well, but was a little smaller than we were used to. The sink is huge and we were a little bummed the faucet didn’t have some option of a spraying feature (it was awkward to rinse/clean out). The garbage and recycling was straight forward.<br/><br/>Our little one slept in a provided pack-and-play in our room, the next littlest got the downstairs bedroom, and the two big kids got the top bunks in the bunk room. Reviewed on 2018-09-19 by Mark and Kackie W. , Everett, WA USLoved the family amenities this house provided. My 3 year old loved the toys in the benches, my 8 and 10 year old played Xbox most of time and my husband and I enjoyed morning coffee around the fireplace while overlooking the lake. We had 4 adults and 4 kids and we had plenty of space. The tall layout of the home makes it so you can hangout together or choose to have your separate space. Thanks again for anticipating our needs.

Great layout and beautiful inside. The only negative was the steepness of hill that house was on, so the outdoor space was pretty unusable.

Where the Wild Things Are at The Lookout at Lake Chelan

Welcome to Where the Wild Things Are at The Lookout!
Where the Wild Things Are is a 1,580 sq foot, 3 stories, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home that comfortably sleeps 8 people. The home is near the community pool, and Hilltop Park, complete with a playground, playfield, pickleball court, large outdoor stone fireplace, and community grill. As with all homes at The Lookout, you also have easy access to the lake. This home is perfectly situated for a family getaway or a fun trip with friends.
Where the Wild Things Are has a large master bedroom, with king sized bed, on the top floor with an en-suite bathroom. The master also includes a small fold-out couch, more than enough space to fit a pack-n-play.
The kitchen and living room occupy the main floor and open up to the large wrap-around deck. While eating dinner, or having your morning coffee, you can sit on the deck and enjoy the view of the lake and surrounding hillside. Turn on the gas fire pit on the main back deck for those chilly mornings or evenings. If you want to eat inside, there is a beautiful built-in banquet. The kitchen contains modern stainless appliances and flows into the living room where a large television is mounted above the fireplace.
The lower level houses a guest bedroom with queen sized mattress, a bunk room containing four bunks, a bathroom, and an entertainment center perfect for kids. Right outside the lower level, you will find the 6-person hot tub for your enjoyment.
One of Where the Wild Things Are greatest features, however, is found outside the home. Below the house sits an expansive 400 sq foot patio area. The patio has picnic seating as well as a comfortable sectional perfect for wrapping up a long day of Lake Chelan fun.
Free WiFi is provided and has enough capacity to handle a full family of devices.
This home is also conveniently prepped for families with little ones. You'll find plenty of utensils for children and babies, safety gates for the stairs, puzzles, games, and books for all ages. All bedrooms contain blackout curtains for little ones who may need to nap during the bright Chelan days.
Because we couldn't imagine leaving part of the family at home while we enjoy your vacation, pets are always welcome. The yard is fully fenced (note: any dogs that jump can easily jump the 3 ft. high fence so make sure to keep an eye on them when outdoors).
